Liz O'ShaughnessyStrategic Lead @everyonelearning Teaching Partnership
Liz O'Shaughnessy
Elizabeth O’Shaughnessy is the Strategic lead for the everyone learning Teaching Partnership leading the School Led Initial Teacher Training Partnership programme (Mainstream/Mainstream with Inclusion/SEND, Secondary) in partnership the University of Cumbria and the University of Warwick.
She is an experienced and well qualified teacher and leader who has worked within the world of Initial Teacher Education for many years.
She is currently the Executive Director of Training and Development across New Bridge Multi Academy Trust (Oldham, Tameside, Rochdale) and has wide-ranging experience of both mainstream and special education sectors.
She acts as a facilitator supporting trainee teachers with the development of General Education Studies aswell as working strategically with our partner schools and the University of Cumbria and Warwick.
Elizabeth is also a Trustee of a local Parent and Carer Charity.
She is delighted to welcome you to the programme and looks forward to supporting your journey into teaching.

Peter Tankard MA,
MA, PGCE, DipCEG, BSc(Hons), FHEA
I have worked at the University of Cumbria on the Secondary PGCE programme since September 2009 and since that time I have had a key role in developing the programme to meet the needs of the sector with school-based provision always being a role central to that development.
Prior to working for the University, I spent 23(+) wonderful years teaching in the secondary sector as a Physics specialist.
In that time, I held several positions culminating in my last four years being a part of my school’s senior leadership team as an Advanced Skills Teacher with responsibility for whole school teaching and learning.

Jean BeaumontSecondary Professional Programme
Jean Beaumont
Jean is currently working as an educational consultant leading on secondary teacher training for the everyone learning @ Hawthorns, Kingfisher, Tame River Educational Trust.
Following the completion of her Religious Studies degree at the University of Lancaster and her PGCE at Manchester Metropolitan University, Jean taught in schools in Greater Manchester for many years.
Leading by example in the classroom has always been extremely important to Jean and it was part of the job she enjoyed most.
Before retiring as Vice Principal of Mossley Hollins in October 2014, Jean held a number of SLT roles predominantly leading on pupil and staff development.
As the Safeguarding, Behaviour and SEND Lead, she championed pupil development.
As for staff development, Jean has built solid links with ITE providers such as MMU, Manchester University and more recently the University of Cumbria. This provided her with a wealth of mentoring/coaching experience.
In her role as an NCSL Middle Leaders coach and Future Leaders mentor, Jean has supported many established and emerging leaders.
Over the years she has driven high expectations, high challenge and provided unwavering support for teachers and support staff. Jean is a trustee of Tame River Educational Trust.

Our Partners
The University of Cumbria is one of the country’s leading providers of teacher education and School Direct partnerships.
Although the University was formed in 2007, they have been training excellent teachers for over 50 years.
One of the institutions that formed the University of Cumbria, St Martin’s College, was well known in the education sector for its excellence in teacher training – and as a University, they haven’t lost that edge.

Entry requirements
Secondary Education with QTS:
A minimum UK 2:2 honours degree or recognised equivalent qualification depending on your chosen specialism, is required. All successful applicants must have met this requirement by 31 July 2018.
GCSE grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics or recognised equivalent qualifications. Applicants must have met this requirement by July 2018.
Successful completion of the QTS skills test in Literacy and Numeracy by 31 July 2018.
General Primary/General Primary with Inclusion/SEND:
Normally a first degree, or its equivalent with a minimum of 2:2 honours.
You also need the following GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, or equivalent qualifications:
- English
- Maths
- Science if you want to teach primary
You may be able to show you meet the standard in another way if you do not have these GCSEs
